3 days of crashing! Terrible flooding in almost all of Greece due to storm Daniel.

Over the last three days devastating floods have hit almost the entire territory of Greece. Heavy rainfall has turned the streets of many cities into rushing torrents.

The first serious floods hit the city of Volos. Streams of water threw cars into the sea and washed away roads. Almost the entire region of Thessaly was hit by flash floods.

On the second day, recurrent rainfall also hit the Greek capital, Athens. Water flooded the streets, turning part of the central avenue in the city centre into a river of mud.

The flooding on day 3 was mainly concentrated in the central towns of Karditsa. People fled as water levels rose on the roofs of their houses. In some areas, water levels from the flooding reached 3 meters.

The sudden downpours have turned roads into rivers of mud. Electricity was cut off after floods toppled the power grid. Hail has also been recorded in many areas. Police have closed traffic in three areas, including the island of Skiathos. Cars were floating on the roads like boats.
